Jambalaya
Pheasant Run Resort is proud to announce the Grand Opening of Jambalaya, a full service restaurant serving Cajun-inspired and American food.   Executive Chef Josef Yurisich said he is excited to be adding a Cajun/American themed restaurant to his successful themed restaurant creations of Mediterranean, East Coast Seafood, Tex-Mex and Italian.  

“I love the challenge of taking well known New Orleans dishes and adapting them for all pallets to enjoy,” said Executive Chef Josef Yurisich. He has put his signature touch on creating well known dishes such as BBQ “N” Awlins Shrimp, Black Magic Chicken and “Po” Boy’s, with a northern American flair that will please all pallets. Jambalaya serves a varied menu --from mild to spicy-- and Hamburgers to Wings, really something for everyone, according to Joseph.  

“The Chef truly matched the view on the plate with the view of our pristine New Orleans art deco. As you walk in from the famous brick-laid Bourbon Street, you get the sense of not only a change of destination, but travel of time.  Jambalaya provides an old world charm which captures New Orleans in its purest form,” said Diane Rosenthal, General Manager of Pheasant Run Resort. Other distinctive details include a distressed wooded bar with Louisiana furniture and lights which surround a black and white checkered, tiled dance floor.  A beaded canopy and soft draped dance floor create an intimate venue to dance into the night, added Rosenthal.  

Jambalaya is a multi-purpose venue artistically fused with live weekend entertainment.   Born of the desire to expand the popular theme created on Bourbon Street, and the need for an additional casual bistro which would double as a high energy night club, this concept was the perfect fit for the resort, added Rosenthal.  Live music on the weekends adds to the Jambalaya experience. During Grand Opening, the entertainment will include: the Zydeco Band, Steamin Barracudas on February 24th from 5-7PM.  At 7PM the tempo changes with DJ Bill Landry, who is running the floor until 10PM.  On February 26th, featured entertainment is The Matt Stedman Zydeco Band and on February 27th dance to the music of Sundance, a classic rock cover band.  Also on tap on Friday evening is the Country’s Hottest Star Contest finale which will take place in the St. Charles ballroom.  On Saturday, February 28th, the Wind Gypsys bring everyone on their feet.

Onesti Dinner Club
As you enter The “New” Onesti Dinner Club, you cannot help but get a warm, welcoming feeling.  Deep cherrywood walls, stained glass windows and hardwood floors are lit by soft candlelight.  The white-tablecloth establishment has gone from a steady but less than gangbuster business to a smash hit in the short few months since ownership has changed. 

The classic building, originally built in 1851 as St. Patrick’s Church, has had several incarnations.  Its most current ambience is that of a 1940s supper club.  As president of a large entertainment company, owner Ron Onesti spices up the nights with a myriad of spectacular entertainment presentations. 

The main dining room has been reconfigured as a showroom, accommodating diners and dancers alike.  What was the choir loft on the second level now seats 50 for private events and restaurant overflow.  It is also home to the coveted “Chef’s Table,” an extraordinary experience for up to eight guests.  It is a private table where diners can choose from regular menu selections or allow the Chef to take certain liberties and go wild. 

The fare is one of great gastronomic delight featuring savory dishes with an Italian spin.  The slow-roasted prime rib is a house specialty, ranging in temperatures medium rare to well (end cuts also available to the daring).  The rib eye is ever so flavorful, with just the right marbling.  The New York Strip and Filet Mignon (perhaps with a succulent lobster tail on the side) round out the selections of beef, tender and mouth watering…hardly ever a doggie bag here! 

A popular seafood dish is another house creation…the prosciutto-wrapped scallops.  This has become a serious favorite.  Then there is the Clay Pot Seafood Bake-shrimp, crab and scallops baked with white rice, garlic, and white wine in a lobster cream sauce.  The wood planked maple glazed salmon is also tops on the list of things people actually drive hours for in order to get their “fix.”  The Lobster Alfredo, large chunks of fresh crabmeat sautéed within a creamy Alfredo is served over fresh pasta, truly marvelous. 

The desserts are home made with Key Lime Pie, Chocolate Lava Cake and an assortment of hand crafted Italian gelato being the most requested.  Bananas Foster flamed tableside is a treat that really must be experienced! 

After dinner, guests stay at their table or get up and dance to one of the many themed entertainment presentations in the showroom including unbelievable tributes to Elvis, The 3 Tenors, Billy Joel/Elton John, Big Band Era, 50s Rock N Roll, and so many others.  Or, martini lovers retreat to the fabulous “O Lounge” and kick back on soft leather couches (formerly owned by Beach Boy Brian Wilson) for one of the mixologists’  specialties.
