KCC: Foster's vote was against constituents' wishes

The timing of Sunday’s passage of the health care reform bill was no coincidence. Democrats wanted – needed – to get the legislation passed quickly, hoping that a long summer and busy fall would blur voters’ memories by the time November elections roll around.

The truth is, this bill was ramrodded through when it wasn’t ready. There still are too many unknowns about the long-term effects of this legislation, including what it will mean for the majority of Americans who are mostly satisfied with their current coverage.

Democrats, unfortunately, let politics dictate their actions. A political victory was more important than a deliberate process of meaningful debate and compromise, a process that could have led to better, more balanced legislation.

Democrats also didn’t listen to the American public, a majority of whom opposed this bill. That majority opposition includes residents of Illinois’ 14th Congressional District.

Unfortunately, 14th District Congressman Bill Foster, D-Batavia, chose party loyalty over his duty to the people he represents – the same people who sent him to Washington – when he voted in favor of the bill.

They were easy to put together, and the granulated sugar lining made the outside of the cakes a little crunchy. I made this recipe two times, the first I baked them for 15 minutes and there is just a chocolate gungy bit in the middle.
