Home sales weaken, but still up slightly in county in July
While home sales throughout much of the rest of the Chicago area took a dive last month, Kane County bucked the trend.
In July, the number of home sales in the county increased slightly, rising 1.3 percent compared to the same month last year, according to the latest round of data from the Illinois Association of Realtors.
Overall, 400 homes sold in Kane County in July, the IAR said, compared to 395 in July 2009.
By contrast, home sales in all of the other counties in the Chicago area crashed in July, the IAR said.
In DuPage County, home sales declined by 35.8 percent compared to last year. In Cook County, sales slid 22.9 percent.
In Kendall County, sales were off 18.6 percent. And in DeKalb County, sales activity fell 66.7 percent compared to July 2009.
